Statement:
The Zimbabwe Crisis mailing list was a manually administered list maintained to disseminate information regarding the break-down of law and order and the violation of human rights in Zimbabwe. This mailing list is no longer maintained, much to the satisfaction of the politicians who were on it. I found that I could no longer keep up with the volume of information while still being different from the other sources. My original intent in setting up this list was not necessarily to redistribute published news reports; rather, it was intended to distribute reports from or directly affecting people in Zimbabwe. Any reports from respondents that were relayed to the mailing list were done so anonymously. Please note that this is an archive of newsletters disseminated in 2000; that's 24 years ago. Although details of events don't change over time, some things do -- contact and banking information are two that come to mind. Please exercise common sense and seek current information before acting on any information you read here.
Updates:
I strongly suggest that you refer to the links at the bottom of the page for up-to-date information about the continuing barbarism taking place in Zimbabwe. Those sites that offer subscriptions (email and/or RSS) are noted with the word "subscriptions" in brackets beside the title of the site. For those of you outside Zimbabwe, probably the best thing you can do is lobby your politicians to take action against mugabe and his henchmen in ZANU-PF. To help you with this you can use a 144-page briefing paper created by Jill Lambert for Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Alexander Downer. Three versions are available:
- PDF version of briefing paper (790 kB)
- HTML version of briefing paper (1 MB)
- Plain-text version of briefing paper (498 kB)
